Dog Groomer in Humboldt, IA

You can bring your pets in for a visit with our dog groomer at Humboldt Veterinary Clinic if you want to keep them looking and smelling clean and healthy. Farm and ranch dogs in particular can benefit from a trip to the dog groomer, due to these animals’ tendencies to roll in any smelly thing they find out in the field (we check for ticks and fleas, too!). Whether you have an “inside dog” or an active cow dog, give us a call to schedule an appointment!

Dog Grooming Services

We provide all of the following services through our on-site groomer at the clinic:

  • Regular or medicated bath
  • Blow-drying and brushing
  • Nail trimming
  • Professional clipping or haircut (ask the groomer for any special requests when you arrive)
  • Ear cleaning/plucking
  • Anal gland expression

Regular Bath vs. Medicated Bath

The fur on ranch and farm dogs tends to get knotted up with dirt, debris, cow manure or anything else they find during their outdoor adventures. A nice regular bath, blow-dry and brushing with our dog groomer can clear up this problem and make your dog’s coat shiny and new. A routine bath is performed with a regular “dog shampoo” that allows your pet’s coat to be penetrated by natural oils.

A medicated bath uses a more specialized form of gentle, medicated shampoo. Dogs that suffer from skin allergies or other dermatological problems find this type of bath soothing. It can even relieve itchiness for a period of time.

Note that if the dog groomer discovers fleas or ticks during a bathing session, we will administer medicine to help get rid of the infestation.

Before You Bring Your Dog or Cat to the Groomer

We do ask that dogs be up to date on their vaccine schedule before you bring them for a visit to the dog groomer. This not only helps to protect your dog, but also any other dogs that may be at the clinic that same day. We ask that your dog be up to date on these vaccines:

  • Rabies
  • Distemper
  • Bordetella

Bring your cat in for grooming as well! We ask that felines be vaccinated for rabies and FVRCP prior to a grooming appointment.
